PSI Electronic Logbook

About this service

The PSI Electronic Logbook, powered by SciLog, is a digital infrastructure developed at the Paul Scherrer Institut to integrate experimental documentation directly into facility services. It eliminates manual overhead by automatically syncing with authentication and data acquisition systems, instantly pulling in experiment proposals and user credentials to provide full context. By recording every note, image, and setting as an individual "atomic" entry in a searchable database, the platform allows scientists to filter and sort complex experimental histories on the fly. Refined through live feedback during active beam time, the system ensures that critical metadata and experimental decisions are preserved without compromising the speed of high-stakes research.
