The central finding of this report is that a fundamental shift is needed in how Research Data Management (RDM) and Research Software Engineering (RSE) specialists are recognised and employed across the ETH Domain. Rather than being primarily viewed as technical support staff, as has often been the case to date, these specialists should increasingly be recognized and employed as research partners in research projects, groups, and initiatives. The project was led by the Human Resources departments of the Domain accompanied by a Sounding Group of RDM/RSE specialists from the six ETH institutions.
